SRP Experiment/s

Right, I have two ideas;
- The first is testing how far a paper plane flies depending on the model
- The second is testing whether gamers have faster reaction times than non-gamers

For the first idea, generally, I was going to research paper plane models and build them. Then test how far they fly outside and record the results.

Materials required are, obviously, paper, a tape measure and maybe some kind of marker - to mark where the plane had originally been thrown from.

There are a lot of variables to consider when conducting the experiment such as the weather, the size and shape of the model, the flick of the wrist when throwing it, and the angle at which it is thrown, (all of which are independent variables, I believe). Others include the length it flies and the way it flies (whether it turns or attempts a somersault - it happens with most failed models), dependent variables, if I'm not wrong.

The second idea involves collecting at least 10 volunteers, ages 10 - 30. Five of them will be people who play more than five hours of video games which require fast reaction time. e.g. fighting games, action games, platform games, etc. I believe these people will be very easy to find. The other five will be people who play less than one hour of the afore-listed (is that even a word?) types of video games a week. In my opinion, considering how gaming is almost an integral part of teenage life, and my limited connections, these people will be very hard to find in comparison to the others.

I'll find a site or game that tests people's reaction times without varying too much and get each person to test themselves at least five times. Their results will be recorded and averaged.

I guess the environment that the people do their tests in is a variable - it could be at school or at home, loud, noisy, quiet, etc - although I will try to get them to test their reactions in a place where they feel comfortable and aren't distracted by anything. I can't really think of any other variables at the moment.

So, yeah. Those are the ideas for the srp that i found interesting, although, I'm leaning more towards doing the reaction experiment because it's more interesting than the paper planes which are a waste of paper anyway. Oh the poor trees...ehehe...
